The indigestible husk is only removed from the basmati brown rice in the best demeter quality. This preserves the valuable silver skin. This surrounds the rice grain. Most of the vitamins and minerals are found directly underneath. If the rice grain is hulled, some of this is lost. With brown rice, however, the silverskin is still intact and so are valuable vitamins and minerals. Basmati rice is fragrant and has a particularly aromatic taste. It is suitable as a side dish or base for a wide variety of dishes, especially for Indian, Middle Eastern or Persian cuisine.basmati rice comes from a Demeter cultivation project in the Bahraich and Uttarakhand regions at the foot of the Himalayas in India. This rice project gives Indian farmers a new perspective.    Both the cultivation and the packaging stand for sustainability. It is based 100% on the renewable raw material wood. They can be completely collected in waste paper and 100% recycled. Through a long-term partnership with the Bergwaldprojekt e.V., Spielberger Mühle finances the planting of trees every year as well as the maintenance and preservation of the existing forest. The latter enables the forest to rejuvenate itself naturally - i.e. new trees grow and the forest thrives. This closes the paper cycle by offsetting paper consumption for packaging and giving something back to nature.
Basic recipe: Rinse the rice in a sieve with water until the water is no longer cloudy. Then bring to the boil once in double the amount of lightly salted water, turn the temperature down and simmer covered for 40-45 minutes until the rice is al dente.    Tip: If the rice is soaked overnight in cold water, the cooking time is reduced to 25-30 minutes. Then pour away the water, wash the rice and cook in lightly salted water.
