High-quality golden millet is used for the millet flakes. The whole grain is steamed and then rolled into a nice flake. This preserves all the valuable ingredients of the whole grain. Millet has a nutty, mild flavor and is one of the most nutritious grains and is widely used around the world. It is still an important source of food in Africa and Asia in particular. Millet was cultivated in various regions around 6000 years ago, as it copes well with heat and a lack of water, and there are around 600 varieties of millet worldwide, including golden millet, which is widespread in Central Europe. Due to its special nutrient composition, millet is very valuable in the diet.
The millet flakes can be enjoyed without cooking or soaking. Simply mix with yogurt, milk, plant-based alternatives or juice and enjoy warm or cold. Refine as desired with fresh fruit, dried fruit, nut butter, jam, honey or spices, for example. In addition to the classic use as a muesli ingredient, flakes also taste great in baked goods such as cookies, muesli bars or bread, as well as in savory dishes such as soups and roasts.
